At the zenith of laziness. Or, simplicity.

And you thought I'd stop there, after doing BIAB, no sparge, no chill. Nope! I do believe now that I've hit the ultimate in AG-brewing, simplified. On top of my usual time-saving BIAB, no sparge, no chill procedure, I've moved on to further streamlining my fermentation and conditioning process - a single-vessel fermentation.

Cheap bags for brewing

Grain bags that are bespoke for BIAB applications cost upwards of $10 at many places. With a little ingenuity however, perfectly good substitutes can be had for much less. For those who are good with your needlework (or more likely, have a very supportive other half who's good at that), you can simply purchase voile material by the foot and get one custom-made for barely any cost at all. Unfortunately, neither of us are great with sewing, but here's a nice tip!

An unsung hero - Campden tablets

Ask any homebrewer what their best investment is, and you'll be treated with a range of answers including fermentation temperature control, a keg system, malt mill etc etc. I do agree with all of these, but today I'd like to salute one of the unsung heroes of homebrewing - Campden tablets, or sodium metabisulphite.
