Hopbox!

My sister gave me a surprise gift yesterday, and I was so excited, we brewed a beer on the spot!

Somehow she purchased a set called a Hopbox, which I gather was a Kickstarter project. It's a custom pinewood tabletop brewing set, consisting of everything you need to brew 1 gallon batches. It came complete with 2 glass carboys (1 gallon), auto siphon, 8 cobalt flip-top bottles, waterproof bottle labels, thermometer, hydrometer, sampling container, and another spare glass container. It also came with powdered no-rinse sanitizer. Ingredients-wise, this particular set came with grains for a Rye IPA, grain bag, CTZ hops, and priming sugar.

Here's a closer look at the components:

The set is quite bulky, so honestly I'm having some trouble finding a place to keep/display it. It sits nicely on the kitchen table during brewing though!

So we brewed our first batch together using the included ingredients. It's a BIAB kit, so it's absolutely fuss-free. Due to the glass carboys however, I couldn't do my usual no-chill so I had to immerse the pot in water to cool it down.

And after pitching the included US-05 yeast:
