L.brevis plating - the verdict

So the L.brevis had been plated for a few months, and I left them incubating on slants all this while. Here's the results and some observations:

Left: Modified MRS Agar
Top Right: Lactose MRS Agar
Bottom Right: Malt Extract Agar

It's quite telling, isn't it? Growth was worst on the simple Malt Extract Agar, while both the MRS agars supported better growth. But at the end of it, the original agar that's recommended for Lactobacillus still wins out, with nice large colonies.

That being said, ill still be maintaining my working culture using the usual dried malt extract and periodically feeding it, while keeping the storage slant on MRS Agar - I'm not too thrilled about having sodium acetate in my beer!
